Artist Statement

The inspiring beauty of nature is all around, ever changing, and part of our everyday lives. I find great pleasure in bringing outdoor beauty to canvas.

My art isn’t meant to create political debate or shock an audience. I simply want my art to bring a sense of the wonder of creation to everyone who views it. I paint scenes that I fall in love with and that I would want to climb right into. Renoir said, “Why shouldn’t art be pretty? There are enough unpleasant things in the world.”

“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Phillippians 4:8. If I can paint an image that makes people think about something lovely—whether it’s a sunset or a memory of a good time spent at the lake—then that’s enough for me.
